Engineering Geology, Specialization Course

Engineering geological field and laboratory methods. The course includes compulsory field course at Snåsa organized in August (week no 33), laboratory testing in September/October and writing of a report from the field and laboratory work, in addition to an oral exam.

Ingress: This course will provide in-depth knowledge in engineering geology.

Knowledge: The student will acquire specialized knowledge to plan and design projects within engineering geology of soils and rocks.

Skills: The student will be able to independently carry out field and laboratory investigations, to find scientific literature, and be able to search the main elements, which are relevant to the project.

General competence: Increased understanding in the field of engineering geology, investigation approaches, report writing skills, planning and design of structures with sustainable and cost effective solutions.

4-5 days of compulsory field mapping and 4-5 days of laboratory testing in groups under direct supervision. Writing of report based on the field and lab assignments (in groups). The field mapping will take place in week no 33. Students should avoid other activities during this week. There will be no other field mapping activity possible.
