Community psychological practice

External community psychology practice gives experience in the investigation of a theoretical problem with community psychology relevance as well as project-oriented work with emphasis on the investigation of children, adolescents and adults. Particular emphasis is placed on conditions at both macro and local level that can contribute to control of one's own living conditions and situation, as well as to personal independence and growth and how such conditions can be used to utilize the resources of the individual and the community to contribute to this.

The student is given preparatory teaching in community psychology linked to a subsequent community psychology practice. The student is given experience in professional experience in the field of community psychology and will become acquainted with both academic opportunities and limitations related to this practice. Within the discipline, emphasis is placed on methods for analyzing issues related to both the individual and the system. The project practice is based on working methods, values and approaches within community psychology.

Knowledge:

• The student has in-depth knowledge of working methods, values and approaches in social psychology.
• The student has in-depth knowledge of community psychology interventions in-depth knowledge of which social resources are central to community psychological interventions
• The student has in-depth knowledge of system and community-oriented work The student has in-depth knowledge of how socio-psychological approaches differ from other perspectives in public health work related to health promotion and disease prevention work
• The student has broad knowledge of coping-oriented interventions for marginalized groups
• The student has broad knowledge of low-threshold treatment and follow-up services for individuals, relatives and groups

Skills:

• The student has acquired skills in how to use community psychology approaches and models to analyze and understand psychological problems at the individual and system level.
• The student has acquired relevant academic approaches for analyzing and investigating issues using working methodology within community psychology.

General competence:

• The student has the ability to understand the individual in a context and how to apply community psychology approaches in a clinical context.
• The student has the ability to investigate and discuss issues that cover both individual and system in writing.
• The student is able to conduct a theoretical study of the discussion of a socially psychologically relevant problem.
• The student can communicate about social psychological issues with employees, partners and the general public, orally and written.

Will include compulsory practice preparation lectures, and exercises with individual guidance and group supervision. This course is evaluated according to the Guidelines for the implementation and evaluation of clinical practice.
