About this course

Content

Manufacturing processes (casting, forming, machining, additive manufacturing etc.), programming of CNC machines and industrial robots, dimensional measurements, quality engineering, design for manufacturing, production planning and control.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge:

Theoretical and practical knowledge about basic metalworking processes. Basic knowledge about machine tools, CNC programming, industrial robots, and manufacturing automation. Basic knowledge about dimensional measurements and quality engineering. Knowledge about production planning.

Skills:

Have the skills to make CNC programs manually and by computer-aided methods. Be able to plan and carry out simple manufacturing processes based on product drawings. Have the skills to use different types of measurement instruments and be able to conduct basic quality control.

General competence:

Understand the relation between product specifications and manufacturing technology. Have basic knowledge about technological processes in a manufacturing company. Be able to assess the potential for automation in manufacturing companies.
