Manufacturing processes (casting, forming, machining, additive manufacturing etc.), material properties, surface coatings, manufacturing automation, dimensional measurements, quality engineering, design for manufacturing, production planning and control.

Knowledge:

Theoretical and practical knowledge about basic metalworking processes and processing of polymers and composites. Basic knowledge about machine tools and manufacturing automation. Basic knowledge about dimensional measurements and quality engineering. Knowledge about production planning.

Skills:

Be able to estimate forces and energy requirements for different types of manufacturing process. Be able to plan and carry out simple manufacturing processes based on product drawings. Have the skills to use different types of measurement instruments and be able to conduct basic quality control. Be able to do basic production planning and control.

General competence:

Understand the relation between product specifications and manufacturing technology. Have basic knowledge about technological processes in a manufacturing company. Be able to assess the potential for automation in manufacturing companies.
