Content
Transport mechanisms in eukaryotic cells, cell membrane, the human genome, DNA replication, transcription, translation, gene regulating, cell division, cell-cycle control, cell signaling, damage of DNA and DNA repair, mutations, cancer development at the molecular level, methods in molecular biology, cell cultivation.
Learning outcomes
Upon passed exam the student should
- be able to explain transport prosesses in eukaryotic
cells and the structure of the celle membrane
- be able to explain the structure of gene and how genes are regulated
- be able to explain how mutations occur
- be able to explain different mechanisms of DNA repair
- be able to explain mechanisms of cell signaling
- be able to describe the cell-division cycle and understand and explain
cell-cycle control
- be able to explain mechanisms of apoptosis
- be able to explain the molecular mechanisms of caner development
- have insight into basic methods in molecular biology
- be able to cultivate cells
Teaching methods
Lectures, laboratory courses, students work together in groups.
Total workload for each student will be 240 hours. There will be about 79 scheduled hours with lectures, laboratory courses and working together in groups.
