- have some knowledge of how cells are analyzed and examined as part of the diagnosis and treatment of disease
- can explain the use of methods in molecular biology and the principles and execution of the methods
- can explain different transport mechanisms intracellularly
- can describe the structure of the cytoskeleton and function of the various components
- can explain how nerve signals propagate and affect the target cell
- can explain how genes are regulated
- can explain how mutations occur
- can explain different mechanisms of DNA repair
- can explain some mechanisms of cell signaling
- can describe the cell-division cycle and understand and explain cell-cycle control
- can explain mechanisms of apoptosis
- can explain the molecular mechanisms of cancer development
- can cultivate cells
Teaching methods
Lectures and practical studies in the form of laboratory courses. Total workload for each student will be 200 hours. There will be about 60 scheduled hours with lectures and laboratory courses.
