Learning outcomes

Learning outcome - Knowledge:

On completion of the course students will obtain

Knowledge of simple electrical circuits

Knowledge of particle and wave properties of electromagnetic radiation

Knowledge of basic principles for selected analytical methods and instruments

Knowledge of quality assurance and laboratory services in general



Learning outcome - Skill:

On completion of the course students will be able to

Make calculations on simple circuits and calculate the effects of refraction and reflection of electromagnetic radiation

Use key instrumental techniques for separation and analysis of macromolecules

Be able to quality assure their own work in the laboratory

Understanding calibration, and calculate the content of chemical substances in unknown solutions



Learning outcome - Competence:

On completion of the course students will be able to

Work both independently and in groups

Master various techniques and instruments for laboratory analysis

Understand the physical principles of selected analytical methods and what measurement techniques are based on

Be able to assess the quality of laboratory instruments, acquire knowledge of quality assurance on laboratory operations in general

Teaching methods

Pedagogiske metoder:

Lectures, assignments and teamwork. Mandatory laboratory work with submission of up to 10 reports, teamwork and problem sets



Obligatoriske arbeidskrav:

Compulsory work in physics consists of up to 7 theoretical rehearsals and 2 practical exercises. Subjects in physics will be evaluated with an individual qualification test. All subtopics of the qualification test in physics must be passed to get admission to the written exam. Mandatory work in instrumental techniques consists of participation in up to 10 practical exercises. All mandatory work must be approved to get admission to the qualification test and written exam.
