Cultural Heritage Management

The course deals with cultural heritage management and is directed at management theory in the form of the philosophy of preservation, bureaucratization and the cultural heritage field as a political arena, including management history and the structure of the management system. This module also includes an overview of the relevant regulations and processes such as consequence analysis, planning processes and the problematics of registration.

According to the course curriculum, a candidate who passes this course is expected to have the following learning outcome (defined as knowledge and skills):

Knowledge:
The candidate has attained
- supplementary knowledge of Norwegian and international cultural heritage management, with an emphasis on the philosophy of preservation, regulations, history and of the cultural heritage field as a political arena

Skills:
The candidate has acquired
- knowledge of the roles and structure of cultural heritage management, as well as practical experience with handling cultural remains in various processes in societal expansion

Lectures and seminars. The exam consist of a written assignment of maximum 4000 words
