Archaeology of Prehistoric and Early Medieval Europe

The course will provide an overview of the history of man in a global perspective, with a special focus on European conditions. Emphasis is put on the material and artistic expressions of the Paleolithic cultures, the first agriculture, and the Bronze Age as a common European phenomenon. The course will also offer a taste of classical archaeology. The relationship between the classical cultures of Greece and Rome will be seen in relation to the rest of Europe, focusing on the emergence of Christian nations after the fall of the Roman Empire.

The course will provide a broad overview of European archaeology from ancient times to the end of the Iron Age, and also how this information has been uncovered.
