Learning processes in a professional and vocational perspective

The subject integrates vocational breadth and depth as well as professional subjects, with an emphasis on professional subjects and vocational breadth. The focus of the subject is on developing the identity of vocational teachers by establishing knowledge, skills, and general competence related to classroom management, lesson planning, students’ learning environment and learning processes, as well as governing documents. In an interdisciplinary professional community, students reflect on shared attitudes and values. Basic skills relevant to the individual study paths are emphasized in the subject. Professional and vocational practice is integrated through work requirements in the subject to develop vocational teacher competence.

Knowledge

The student has knowledge of:

• Learning, working methods, tools, and processes relevant to professional and vocational practice
• Development of learning environments and students’/apprentices’ mastery and motivation for learning
• Various career and educational choices
• How their own vocational background can be utilized in teaching contexts
• Relevant governing documents and professional and vocational theory

The student can:

• Plan, justify, assess, and lead instruction
• Facilitate an inclusive and meaningful learning environment
• Lead, communicate, and collaborate with students/apprentices individually and in groups
• Apply their own vocational background in teaching contexts
• Utilize applicable curricula and governing documents

General Competence

The student can:

• Demonstrate professional behavior and explore both student and teacher roles through reflection
• Reflect on their own practice and development
• Build relationships and collaborate with colleagues on relevant training
• Use digital tools in professional and vocational practice
• Reflect on professional and ethical challenges

The subject includes teaching and other learning activities during gatherings, as well as digital learning activities between these gatherings. There are mandatory work requirements in the subject, and it is structured to include independent work and group work between sessions. Registration for the exam requires approved mandatory activities.
