Product Design 5 - Mechatronics

A project where students design and prototype a mechatronic system is central in the course. A number of lectures is given on the following topics: Mehcatronics and it´s relevance in products. Development of technical system concepts. Electronics, control systems (PLC), hydraulics and pneumatics.

Knowledge: Fundamentals of mechatronic technology and its use in products.

Skills: Development of technical concepts. Experience with building of a working prototype involving electrical components; electronic control, pneumatic s, and mechanics.

General competence: To work with products as systems.

Lectures, exercises, project and an oral presentation of the result.
Initial exercises(5): electric motors, electronics, pneumatics and PLC-programming are obligatory. The main project consists of individual assignments and group assignments.
