About this course
Content
The subject gives an introduction to the laws of mass and heat transfer and their applications, with help of analytical, numerical and practical methods.
Mass transfer: Applied fluid mechanics and pipe flow.
Heat transfer: Thermodynamical work, First and Second Law of Thermodynamics, stationary and transient conduction in solid materials, engineering correlations for convective heat transfer, heat transfer in phase transitions, heat transfer in pipes and heat exchangers.
Learning outcomes
The candidate has knowledge of applied heat and mass transport.
The candidate has basic knowledge of conduction in solid materials.
The candidate has basic knowledge of heat transfer i channels and on surfaces.
The candidate has basic knowledge of heat exchangers.
The candidate can collect and process required information for practical calculations.
The candidate can analyse and calculate heat and mass transfer in combined systems and relevant technologies.
Teaching methods
Lectures (60 hours), exercises (30 hours), lab work (5 hours) and self study (185 hours).
