Content
The specialization Course in Sustainability, Occupational Health and Safety Management is focusing on themes and problems specific to one of the HSE specializations occupational hygiene, external environment, safety, and HSE management. Themes in the Specialization Course may vary from year to year, depending on the students choice of project. Research methods is at the core of this course.
Learning outcomes
Knowledge: The course will give an introduction to different research designs, different methods for collecting and handling data, and strength and weaknesses of the different methods. Skills: The students shall be able to plan and carry out a research project. They shall be able to make appropriate choices of research designs and methods for gathering and handling data and apply these. They shall also be able to make a critical evaluation of the trustworthiness of research projects and results. The students shall gain skills in literature search, and to understand and use scientific literature in their field. General Competence: The course will give a general competence in research methods and in the strengths and weaknesses of the different approaches. It will also enhance the general ability for critical evaluation of the research process. The students shall have general competence in reading and writing scientific texts.
Teaching methods
The course consists of exercises, lectures and seminars.
