About this course
Content
Selected electronic systems from diverse applications such as entertainment, telecommunications, medical imaging, and industrial electronics will be analysed in some detail. Emphasis will be put on technology which is critical for the systems functional performance in order to illustrate the trade offs a systems designer may be confronted with. Selected circuit elements will be subject to thorough studies to illustrate the relations between circuit components and systems performance.
Learning outcomes
The students shall understand that the implementation of an electronic system requires both a wide scope of professional technical knowledge in addition to electronic circuit design capabilities. They should understand the significance of some basic technical concepts in electronics and telecommunications.
Teaching methods
Lectures, laboratory exercises, and group reports. The final marks will be based upon a final written exam (50%), the group reports (30%), and the laboratory exercises (20%). The results for each part is given in % whereas the overall final mark is given in letters. At the delayed exam the final written exam may be replaced by an oral examination.
