Culture and history in the Spanish-speaking countries in the 20th and 21st centuries

The course explores history and society in the Spanish-speaking world. A specific theme will be chosen for each semester.

KNOWLEDGE

The candidate:

• has advanced knowledge about a specific topic within the area of Spanish-speaking culture, history and society.
• has knowledge of the subject area's history, traditions, distinctive character and place in society

SKILLS

The candidate:

• can communicate the acquired knowledge in Spanish, both in written assignments, in conversations and oral presentations
• can make use of expert knowledge in future jobs and further studies
• has obtained enough knowledge in the chosen topic to communicate with specialists in this academic field
• can apply knowledge to new areas within the academic field and stay informed

GENERAL COMPETENCE

The candidate:

• is expected to have gained insight into source criticism
• is expected to be able to present an analytical reasoning
• is expected to be able to present and discuss problems, views and solutions, both orally and in writing
• is expected to be able to participate in a dialog on a general level with people from different academic backgrounds

Lectures and seminars. The course demands a high degree of student activity, both through preparations at home and oral participation in lectures and seminars.

Minimum 75% attendance required for lectures and seminars. Absence above 25% requires an application at the beginning of the semester.

Approved obligatory assignment is only valid in the semester in which the approval is given.
