Spain in Europe

The course explores Spanish history and society.

The course focuses on how Spanish culture, history and politics have influenced and have been influenced by other countries and people.

The focus topic of the course depends on the lecturer. Examples of topics are: Spain and migration, the nation building process in Spain or Spain's relationship with the EU.

The learning outcome depends on what topic the lecturer chooses to focus on.

KNOWLEDGE

The candidate:
- is expected to have a general knowledge about the role of Spain in Europe
- is expected to have knowledge about Spain's position as bridge builder between Europe on one side, and North Africa and Latin America on the other side
- is expected to know significant development characteristics in the relationship between Spain and Europe, and know how to obtain new knowledge and keep him/herself updated in this academic field

SKILLS

The candidate:
- can make use of expert knowledge in future jobs and further studies
- has obtained enough knowledge in the chosen topic to communicate with specialists in this academic field

Lectures and seminars. The course demands a high degree of student activity, both through preparations at home and oral participation in lectures and seminars.

Approved obligatory assignments are valid for 2 semesters (the semester in which the approval is given, plus the following semester). All obligatory assignments must be completed in the same semester.
