Spanish I

The course gives an introduction to Spanish language with emphasis on pronunciation, listening comprehension, basic grammar and written exercises. It also presents aspects of Spanish culture and society through texts and conversations.

The students should gain oral proficiency in Spanish. They should be able to engage in elementary conversations in Spanish, and to read and write simple texts. The students should also gain some insight into Spanish culture and society.

Lectures and group sessions. Assessment: Both parts of the exam are graded together. Failing one part of the exam entails failing the whole course. Students who fail must sit both parts of the exam again.
