Qualitative Analysis

In the lectures we will present and discuss the qualitative social research individuality, as well as various principles of analysis. In the seminars the students will get some practical training in analysis of qualitative data. Some seminars will be based on presentation of research papers and chapters in class.

Knowledge - the student shall:

• have insight into the principles of qualitative analysis.
• be familiar with the challenges related to qualitative analysis.

Skills - the student shall demonstrate the ability to:

• be able to conduct a qualitative analysis of an empirical material.

Lectures and seminars, according to the lecture plan. The analysis methods that are covered in the lectures varies. Supervision of term paper. The paper is to be an independent discussion of a topic taught in lectures, and is to consist of 20 pages. If six or fewer students sign up for a planned course during the first two teaching weeks, the course will be offered as an instructed reading course.
