Project management

This course provides students with a general introduction to project management and projects as a phenomenon. It explores projects as a mode of governance, organization, leadership, and work practice. The value-creating elements of projects—from initiation to benefits realization—are emphasized throughout the course. Particular attention is given to the project manager’s pivotal role in determining project success. Key topics include managing uncertainty, resource allocation, stakeholder influence and engagement, team dynamics and learning, as well as innovation and sustainability within projects.

Knowledge

Upon completion of the course, students will:

• Possess fundamental knowledge and understanding of the characteristics of value-creating projects and their appropriate application.
• Understand the basic elements of project leadership and governance.
• Gain insight into the project manager’s pivotal role in projects.
