Philosophy of Science, Methodological Reflection and Research Ethics

The emphasis is placed on understanding social work in light of scientific theory in general, and specially in relative to social sciences and social philosophy. It is especially the rise of the modern, the postmodern riot, the transition from positivism to hermeneutics and social constructionism. The science is also seen in light of politics and ideology from marxism to neoliberalism and refractions against alternative social and humanistic views that emerges in our time.
The course must also be seen in light of method teaching, when different paradigms and perspectives will be of importance for design and use in research.

The learning outcome is in relation to course content and the students should see and understand how different processes rooted in the material society influences perspectives and interests that are intertwined in research.

Lectures, group work, seminars with student presentations and written assignments.
