Approaches in Social Work

As an applied discipline, Social Work has developed ways of understanding and working in close interaction with altering needs and available knowledge. Over time, there have been different dominant approaches, popular or less popular, according to the perspective they are evaluated from. In Norway, one has put a great deal of emphasis on adaptation to national circumstances. Focus will be directed towards both theory and methods of working.
The course will be taught in lectures and in group discussions with prepared contributions from the students.

Teaching method and activities: Lectures, seminars and group work.
Form of assessment: Home exam – two weeks.
