About this course

Content

This course on work and organisational psychology includes teaching that will deal with issues in working life where (clinical)psychological skills and qualifications are important. This applies for example to areas such as business culture, organisational change, sickness absence, working environment, health and safety, recruitment, management and personal development.

The content of this course overlap to some degree with PSY1050 Personnel Psychology, but the form of examination different. No exemption is therefore awarded for the course.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge:
The student has general knowledge about central historical theories within the field of organizational psychology.
The student have more in-depth knowledge about a topic that the student choose, such as bullying, conflicts, organizational change, team work, human factors, sick leave, mental health in work life, leadership and management, MTO (man technology and organization), safety.
The student has knowledge about the psychologist role as an expert towards public institutions such as NAV.
The student has knowledge about emission of attestation and statements in connection for public institutions, such as NAV.
The student has knowledge about public follow-up on sick leave.
Skills:
The student can make a research question relevant for organizational psychology.
The student can make a theoretical research presentation based on a research question chosen by the student.
The student can lead a discussion in class about the topic the student has chosen.
General competence:
The student can reflect upon a research question within the field of organizational psychology.
The student has good skills in making presentations and leading discussions based on a research question chosen by the student.
The student has knowledge about APA standard for written work.
