About this course
Content
Definition and discussion of basic concepts within reliability and risk analysis. - Functional analysis and mapping of errors and sources of danger. - System analysis based on FMECA, reliability network and fault tree. - Calculation of reliability and availability of technical systems. - Measures of reliability importance. - Analysis of repairable systems by Markov methods. - Analysis of safety-critical systems (IEC 61508). - Analysis of systems that are prone to common errors. Requirements for digital twins. Real-time update of digital twins. Queries - What happens if analyses.
Learning outcomes
Knowledge:
The student
has basic insight into concepts and methods of attack related to the analysis and assessment of safety and reliability of industrial equipment, systems used in transport solutions and critical infrastructure.has basic insight into how digital twins can be developed and updated in real time.Skills:
The student
can identify and assess faults in both individual components and in complex systemscan assess which parts of a system are particularly important for preventing system errorscan use different methods to calculate the reliability of individual components and complex systemscan use digital tools to analyze safety and reliability, and include models as part of the digital twincan assess the advantages and disadvantages associated with the individual methods.General competence:
The student
- understands safety and reliability in relation to applications within operational reliability, quality, risk, environmental protection and sustainable development
- can reflect on the relationship between costs/disadvantages and benefit associated with various security measures
- understands the importance of digital twins also addressing the security and reliability of complex systems.
Teaching methods
The subject is carried out in two sessions, two + three days of lectures, group work and discussions. Great emphasis is placed on discussions and the transfer of experience between the participants. Between the two collections there are self-studies with reading syllabus, assignments and guidance via the internet. The course is part of NTNU's further education offer, and has a course fee.
