Trial lecture in Scandinavian Studies

NORD3503 is a final master's course in which students prepare and deliver a trial lecture based on a syllabus with a clear subject profile within Scandinavian language or literary studies. The subject profile must be different than the topic of the master's thesis. The course is taken in the final semester of the teacher training program in language studies or the master's degree in Scandinavian language and literature. The trial lecture cannot be presented until the master's thesis has been submitted. Students will receive the topic for the trial lecture two weeks (ten working days) before it is to be presented.

Requirements for the syllabus/reading list: Students can either use the syllabus from a NORD2000 course or set up their own syllabus in collaboration with their master's supervisor. The course will then consist of independent study. The syllabus in NORD3503 must not overlap significantly with the bibliography of the master's thesis or have been the syllabus in courses the student has previously received credit for. Literary variant: If the student does not use the reading list from a NORD2000 course, the reading list must consist of 4-5 works of fiction and approx. 300 pages of theoretical literature. Language variant: If the student does not use the reading list from a NORD2000 course, the reading list must consist of approx. 450-500 pages of texts at the specialization/master's level.

• detailed knowledge of the scientific methods of the discipline
• a conscious and critical awareness of various sources of information

Skills:

The candidate can:

• apply and reflect on theoretical and methodological approaches to a limited area of study
• conclude and process academic material and prepare a lecture within a set time frame
• present a lecture within a set time frame
• convey academic issues, analyses and conclusions within the discipline

The same as for the chosen NORD2000 course, or independent study.
