Audiovisual Media

The course presents important perspectives on media theory and provides an introduction to several audiovisual formats. Specific examples of digital media, television programs and movies are an important part of the instruction and will be analyzed, discussed, set in contextual and assessed for their aesthetic aspects.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will have knowledge of the distinctive qualities of images as communicative and aesthetic expressions, and be able to assess these with regards to such diverse forms of expressions as web media, or movie genres and television programs. Students will learn the particular features of various genres and types media expressions, and they will become competent in analysing audiovisual media.

This course is taught in Norwegian only.

Lectures, film and television screenings, as well as group instruction, including tutoring and feedback on written assignments and oral presentations.

Course requirements:
A written group assignment must be approved before the student is eligible for final assessment.

More on the form of assessment:
The final assessment consists of a 6 hour written test, with a screening for the examination presented the day before the examination proper.

Students are required to stay abreast of the results of exercise assignments posted on the department's bulletin boards.

Students are required to keep posted on relevant messages from the department or the teacher at It's learning and Innsida, alternatively at course web pages or bulletin boards.
