Practical Studies III

The course is based on Practical Studies I and II. The various studies are carried on.

Knowledge:
An examinee with a completed qualification in MUSV2017 has deepened knowledge of
- vocal/instrumental styles and traditions
- instrumental and rehearsing and presentation techniques
- musical theory
- principles of melody, rhythm, harmony, form and sound

Skills:
An examinee with a completed qualification in MUSV2017
- can work goal oriented and independently
- can rehearse and present a vocal/instrumental repertoire from different eras, styles and traditions at a higher level than what is required in MUSV1016
- can show musicality, technical skills and insight into music theory in practical performance at a higher level than what is required in MUSV1016
- can perceive and reproduce melodies, rhythms, formal and harmonic progressions in music from different styles and traditions at a higher level than what is required in MUSV1016

Lectures, group- and individual instruction.

Compulsory activities:
To pass the course the student must attend a minimum of 80% of the lectures. In aural training there is a practical test in addition to submitting of up to 6 written assignments. The assignments will be assessed with approved/not approved. Aural training has to be approved in order to take the final examination on the principal instrument.
Students who are not registered for the course do not have the right to practical instruction.

Assessment: The course concludes with a practical examination on the principal instrument. The duration of the practical examination is approximately 20 minutes. There must be a new repertoire for each exam. If the student fail to attend principal instrument lectures after the department's appointment of a principal instrument teacher, the student will lose the right to take the final examination.
