Main instrument B

The subject builds upon the contains of Instrument and Performing A, or equivalent. Individual and group lessons in main instrument with emphasis on independent work. The subject emphasizes concert training and ensemble training, and the student must participate with solo or chamber musical repertoire in at least two concerts during the academic year. At least one of the concerts must be part of Department of Music's own concerts. The concerts are to be documented and approved in the semester reports.

Compulsory course in Conducting gives the students practical experience in leading an ensemble through conducting, leading while being part of the ensemble yourself and so on.

Compulsory course in Instrument Knowledge/Voice Physiology: The course is primarily offered in the second year of study, but several classes containing few students from various instrument groups may be combined. As a result of this the student will be able to continue at MUSP4170 without having completed this part of MUSP4160.

Main instrument and accompaniment lessons that are intended to enable the student to achieve the learning objectives in the course are offered no more than once.

The instruction is mandatory and requires a minimum of 80% satisfactory participation.

An agreed accompaniment lesson that the student cancels on the same day is considered lost instruction and is included in the student's absence limit of a maximum of 20%.
