Aural Training/Improvisation A

The course aims to mirror music's various means of expression and ability to cross the borders of time and genre through performances. Improvisation is essential.

Compulsory course in Choral Conducting includes musical instruction as well as conducting teqniques.

The candidate:
-Has a musical expression and understanding founded in methodic and improvised work with the basic elements melody, rhythm, sound, harmony and form.
-Can master music by listening and imitation.
-Can communicate music from different styles and expressions.
-Has basic skills in conducting ensembles.
-Has consciousness about leading musical ensembles

1.5 hours of group instruction a week for 12 weeks in fall and 14 weeks in spring. Participation in Norwegian traditional Music course at the Ole Bull Academy replaces 1 week of instruction in the fall term.
Compulsory course in Choral Conducting: Seminar. 1-2 hours per week during one semester.
