Biodiversity

The main issues in this course is deeper knowledge on selected groups of organisms and increased familiarity with classification and systematics of organisms. Collecting, preparing and preserving of organisms and ethical considerations linked to this will be a part of this course. Knowledge on biodiversity and this topic’s relation to sustainable development will be thoroughly treated.

• har in-depth knowledge on groups of organisms with relevance for compulsory school
• has advanced knowledge on issues concerning human impact on biodiversity and how this relates to sustainable development

• can discover, collect and prepare different organisms in by adequate means
• can use different tools for identifying organisms
• can select relevant taxa for inclusion in different educational settings
• can evaluate different methods and educational resources for school use

• can analyse and evaluate relevant ethical problems linked to education on biodiversity in compulsory school
• can justify why knowledge on biodiversity is important within the framework of sustainable development

Teaching in English when English-speaking students participate, otherwise the course is given in Norwegian.
