ICT and learning

The course ICT and Learning should give the student insight in pedagogic use of ICT and relevant applications of it in teaching. The subject will have a systematic approach to different types of ICT and pedagogical perspectives, and it will address themes such as ethics, knowledge about pupils, media pedagogy, judicial perspectives, history, and didactics.

KNOWLEDGE
The students
- will have deep knowledge about how technological advances contribute to changes in learning arenas with regard to content, work methods, and forms of assessment.
- will have knowledge about digital skills and the dilemmas connected to professional ethics
- will have knowledge about different perspectives on technological development
- will have knowledge about how children use media
- will have knowledge about misuse and undesirable behaviour in relation to the use of ICT
- will have knowledge about how digital arenas can provide both possibilities and problems connected to participation in democracy and the public sphere
- will have knowledge about privacy and data security
- will have researched based knowledge about ICT and learning
SKILLS
The student
- can plan, implement, and assess ICT based teaching in an independent and professional way
- can understand and discuss question about who decides the premises for technological development
- can reflect critically upon the content and value goals of the course ICT and Learning, and evaluate the connection between the course, teaching, and the student’s own professional ethics

GENERAL COMPETENCE
The student
- has knowledge about and is able to reflect upon his or her own professional digital competence (PfDK)
- is able to evaluate independently from trends and popular notions
- is able to show professional engagement about questions on the pedagogical use of ICT, games, and/or social media

Lectures, workshops, group based activities about media and technological approaches to learning, discussions about theory and didactics, cases, and the sharing of experiences in groups.
Project: The students will of their own choosing complete a project in which they shall develop a plan for a series of lessons that include use of ICT, and they shall discuss the value of this plan according to what they see as its potential for learning. The students will be assessed on basis of their reports and project work.
