STS: Writing a master and project management

The course is to prepare the students to make use of their STS-background by learning to work on a project and self management. The students are also going to learn to produce, evaluate and manage research based knowledge. The course is to support the development and doing of their master project.

KNOWLEDGE

By the end of the course students have knowledge of

• Planning a master thesis project
• Scientific writing and supervision

SKILLS

At the end of the course students can

• develop a project plan and communicate a projects ideas, goals, preconditions, challenges and sollutions
• practice self management and lead a small project
• Writing academically and evaluating scientific texts

The course is practical and lectures are followed by exercises related to ongoing projects/own and others' master projects both individually and in groups.

• Up to four work requirements in different formats which are delivered both individually and in groups. Assessed as pass or fail
• Participation in 2/3 or the teaching

Students who do not meet the attendance requirement may, upon application to the department, be allowed to complete a compensatory assignment. The compensatory work will be adapted to the extent of the absence and may be written and/or oral.
