Heritage Law

The course focuses on laws and regulations of cultural heritage management and of the proceedings within the different Norwegian administrative bodies of building regulations. The course builds on KULMI2700 but focuses more on the Plan and Building Act at county and municipality level. Especially emphasis is put on actual proceedings within a larger judicial, administrative and political context.

A candidate who passes this course is expected to have the following learning outcome according to the course curriculum defined as knowledge and skills:

Knowledge:
The candidate
- has knowledge of the Plan and Building Act and its content and proceedings in regard to building regulations
- has practical and theoretical knowledge of building regulations on local and regional level

Skills:
The candidate
- has knowledge of substantive law and procedure
- has competence in local and regional administration of building regulations
- can understand and apply a juridical language and identify juridical issues
- can apply legal instruments in building conservation.
