Introduction to Art History

The course is part of the Bachelor's and the one-year programme in Art History. The course provides an introduction to the field of study as academic discipline, with the aim of providing the students with skills in thinking, writing and reading academic texts. The student will be introduces to the distinctive character of the academic field, its forms of expression and relevant avenues of inquiry.
The student will be provided with skills in academic writing and reading through chosen art works and written sources.

Upon successful completion of the course the student will have:
- Knowledge about academic thinking- and writing, on the basis of the academic field's central subjects or forms of expression.

Skills
Upon successful completion of the course the student will know how to:
- use subject-specific, academic ways of thinking- and writing for understanding, evaluate, analyse, and discuss the academic field's central subjects or forms of expression.

Instruction involves lectures, subject-specific seminars and individual assignments with a focus on reading and writing practice.

Students are required to stay updated on any information given by the department or course director via Blackboard.
