The course describes and discusses salient aspects of the development of ICT in today's society

Knowledge: A student who completes the course is to have:

• well-developed knowledge about the challenges tied to realising the potential of ICT in work-life and society
• well-developed knowledge about relevant legislation and ethical problems related to development and use of ICT in society
• knowledge about information security and privacy
• well-developed insight into public and political plans, strategies and efforts
• basic knowledge and insight into the application of new research results

Skills: A student who completes the course should have:

• well-developed skills at critically assessing the conditions for introducing, using and spreading ICT in work-life and society
• basic skills as a competent customer in procurement, implementation and development projects of ICT
• basic skills in the use of ways of accessing research results

General competence: A student who completes the course should have:

• well-developed competence in oral and written communication about thematic problems and solutions
• basic competence to collaborate effectively with others and contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration
• well-developed competence in understanding the role and implications of ICT in worklife and society at large
