About this course

Content

The course will provide an introduction to physical education and sports subjects, key governmental documents and how the subject is perceived by student groups. Part of the course will deal with becoming a research student, and eventually a research teacher. Central topics that will be discussed are the role of the physical education subject as a learning subject, well-being and dissatisfaction, student requirements and the social responsibility of the physical education subject, such as public health and coping with life. In the course, students must participate in a number of alternative movement activities to create reflection on how activity is experienced.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge objectives - The student shall have insight into:

  • relevant governmental documents in physical education and sports.
  • becoming a research teacher.
  • various issues related to becoming a teacher in physical education and sports.

Skill objectives - The student shall be able to:

  • discuss various issues related to being a teacher in physical education and sports through the use of scientific texts.
  • use own empirical data as a basis in the work of evaluating teaching in physical education and sports subjects.

Teaching methods

2 hours of lectures and 2 hours of group activities every week.

The students will participate in various alternative movement activities and use empirical evidence to discuss their own experience of skill level, well-being, intensity and learning.
