Research Methods, Research Ethics and Research Design

This course addresses theoretical as well as practical questions regarding design, the links between problem, research method and ethics, presenting strong and weak sides to different kinds of research design.
The course also addresses classical research ethical questions and current guidelines, within both medical, as well as social sciences research. Institutions, law and bodies of approval that the students are likely to come across when they start writing their theses, will be presented.

To give the students insight into basic ethical and methodological questions about the design of a research topic, as well as preparing them for the writing of their Master thesis.

Teaching methods and activities: Lectures and seminars.
Compulsory activities: 2 approved assignments.
Form of assessment: 4-hour written exam.
