Laboratory Medicine

Cell damage/cell death. Inflammation. Circulatory disturbances. Electrolyte- and acid/base disturbances. Hormonal disturbances. Growth disturbances and tumors.

The student:

• has knowledge about and is able to explain biological and cellular processes upon cell damage/cell death, inflammation, growth disturbances and tumors, circulatory disturbances, electrolyte- and acid/base disturbances, hormonal disturbances, and some general pharmacological principles.
• has knowledge about and is able to explain how normal and disturbed processes in the body can be monitored in body fluids, cells and tissue.

Total expected work load: 230 hours. Problem based learning (PBL) in groups of about 8 students. Lectures 36 hours: 5 hours. Team based Learning (TBL): 15 hours. Self study: 172 hours.
