Populations, Resources and Environment

Current environmental problems such as spatial conflicts, deforestation and water shortages are discussed. Further, the course gives a brief introduction to basic demographic concepts and models, as well as traits in the development of global populations. Emphasis is placed on presenting different ways of looking at the relationship between economic growth, population growth, poverty, and environmental deterioration.

The course aims to give an overview of some central concepts and themes linked to the management of natural resources.

18 hours lectures and 6 hours seminar.
This course will have compulsory papers to be written individually and/or in groups. You will be offered a short introduction to academic writing. The papers have to be approved before you can do the written examination.
