French Literature and Society

This course explores the position of literature in French society. Students will read a selection of French literary texts. The cultural and historical context of the texts as well as their intellectual contents and generic classification will be discussed.

Candidates who have completed this course
- have extensive knowledge about French literature and is able to make use of a range of approaches when analysing literary texts.
- is able to discuss the relationship between literary texts and political, social and cultural issues in French.
