Documentary

FILM2001 is an undergraduate course in film studies dedicated to the history and development of the documentary film.

Knowledge
Upon successful completion of the course the student will have:
- knowledge of the history of the documentary film.
- knowledge of different genres of documentary.
- knowledge of key concepts in documentary film theory.
- knowledge of the distinctive features of the documentary and its forms of communication.
- knowledge of key issues in the documentary film's relation to concepts like truth and objectivity.

Skills
Upon successful completion of the course the student will know how to:
- discuss the development of the most prominent periods in the history of documentary film.
- discuss the most important concepts in documentary film theory.
- accomplish an academic analysis of a documentary film.

Lectures, screenings and seminars, including supervised training in practice-based exercises. Teaching is usually conducted in Norwegian, but may take place in English.

Students are required to stay updated on information from the department or course director via Blackboard.
