Applied Methods in Drama and Theatre

The course is connected to field studies of development or performance analysis, including research through dramatic forms (research presentation). The course is relevant to students who are undertaking a practical variant of the Master's thesis, or who have practical field work as the basis for their Master's thesis.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will have:

- Knowledge about working forms and forms of expressions that are used in research and dissemination of research.
- Knowledge about important and relevant themes for research and research results in arts based research.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will know how to:

- Plan, carry out and disseminate a practice based, artistic research project.
- Apply knowledge about drama, theatre and methods on arenas relating t the discipline and to cultural policy, and make conscious choices in such arenas.
- Use ethnographic methods
- Act self-reflexively in one’s own artistic/art pedagogic process and act reflexively on one’s own artistic product.

Instruction is offered in the form of lectures, practical and method-based exercises, tutoring (individually and in groups), portfolio and projectreport.

Course requirement:
1) The project report counting 4000-6000 words must be submitted at least one weeks prior to the examination. 2) Student must have achieved an attendance and participation of minimum 80 % of the required instructions.

More on the form of assessment:
The examination consists of a performance/demonstration in the presence of an external sensor, as well as an individual oral defense of the presentation.

Students are required to check the result of their assignments on the department's bulletin board or on It's Learning.

Students are required to keep posted on messages from the department or teacher at It's learning, Innsida, or bulletin boards.
