Bachelor's Thesis in Drama and Theatre

In this course, students write a bachelor thesis based on their own field of interest. The student practices writing and reading skills, knowledge of relevant research literature, methods, data collection and research ethics. In the work on the thesis, the student must work independently and be able to communicate her work both orally and in writing. The bachelor thesis can be based on one's own practical work or other relevant phenomena, for example in performing arts, drama and theater pedagogy or other forms of theater practice.

Knowledge

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will have:

• in-depth knowledge about their chosen subject or topic.
• knowledge about the process of carrying through an individual scientific project that follows academic standards for research.

Skills

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will know how to:

• plan and implement an independent scientific/research project, within a self-chosen subject/topic.
• get an overview and knowledge of the research literature and from there set up a self-selected syllabus
• formulate and justify one`s own findings, analysis and conclusions in both written and orally academic formats

Teaching consists of lectures, seminars and supervision. The student will receive supervision and feedback on project description. The teaching will be organized according to what is most appropriate based on the students' choice of topic.

The bachelor’s thesis can be written in Scandinavian or English. Every bachelor’s thesis must include a Scandinavian and English summary.
