About this course

Content

The Bachelor’s thesis - practical option, is written in cooperation with an relevant external employer. Working with external collaborators students will have the opportunity to observe and/or participate in the working life of a relevant business or institution within their academic field.

The thesis' research question is made in cooperation between the student, tutor and external institution. The student will put together research literature, in collaboration with their adviser. The course is also designed to give students experience in presenting project results in both written and oral form.

Placements are secured through the Department of Art and Media Studies, and contact between students and external collaborators is established early on in the semester. The course is a practical/theoretical version of KM2000 - Bachelor thesis.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Upon successful completion of this course students will have:

- knowledge of planning and implementing a practice-oriented project in collaboration with an external client

- knowledge of how to apply theoretical insights to real-life challenges

Skills

Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

- plan and implement a basic project for an external client

- apply insights and skills gained from media studies in practical situations

- present and justify findings, analyses and conclusions in oral as well as written form

More information about teaching methods and activities will be given at the beginning of the course.

More on the assessment:
The final assessment is a written assignment between 4000-6000 words. In an oral examination the student will have the opportunity to defend their written assignment and give their own assessment of their work.
