Case studies of recent and historic architecture. Students work in groups. It is recommended that this course be taken in parallel or in advance of AAR4416 Architecture 3 - Housing which is taught the same semester.

Skills: The candidate ... - is able to assess quality in architectural works on a basic level. - is able to contribute to architectural critique in essay form at a basic level. - has basic skills in the production of 2D CAD drawings of built architecture based on existing drawings, surveying and photographs. - can contribute to the production of precise architectural models of built architecture. - has basic skills in architectural photography as well as photography of architectural models and interior models. - has basic skills in digital workflow and relevant applications for vector graphics and desktop publishing with a professional, publishable result. The course is conducted as a group assignment related to case studies of a selection of recent and historical architectural projects. The assignment includes information retrieval, writing of texts and presentation. The teaching will consist of lectures, seminars, discussions and critiques, as well as guidance in groups.

An optional excursion can be arranged as part of the teaching of the course. At the start of the semester the course leader will inform the students whether an optional excursion will be arranged. Students who participate in optional excursions must expect to pay a share of the expenses. For students who do not participate in optional excursions, an alternative will be offered.
