Learning outcomes
The course will facilitate understanding of academic formation as well as awareness of the own engineering profession. The academic formation includes critical reflection, scientific thinking and ethical competence. Awareness of the own profession involves both the engineer's role in society and the societal challenges that the engineer is expected to contribute to find solutions to.
Knowledge:
- Could describe what sustainable development in various engineering professions entails.
- Explain what academic formation means.
- Know basic methods for rethinking and innovation.
Skills:
- Could plan and implement simple engineering projects.
- Could write a group-based academic report with the correct use of literature references and source-critical assessments.
General competence:
- Reflect and communicate over fellow students' work.

Coursework requirements:
- The student has to complete the 3IKK digital course (3 hours innovation and creativity course).
- On the basis of a lecture series on sustainability in various engineering professions, students have to write individual reflections.
- Students shall, together in a group, write an academic report with the correct use of literature references and source critical reviews.
The report shall be presented orally and the groups shall oppose each other. For online students, the report may be individual, and there will be an alternative arrangement for presentations and oppositions.
- Students have to conduct a group based laboratory project and document the results. Online students get an alternative arrangement.
Additional information:
For online students, there will be recordings of the central lectures on campus. Guidance for online students is done by using forums on the learning platform, or by appointment.
