Faglig innhold

The course seeks to provide students with a reflective attitude towards their own artistic practice, both with a focus on personal development and growth, and in light of art’s role in society, in a historical, cultural and aesthetic context. Further on the course will elucidate the relationships between artistic and cultural discourses and musical performance practices, and stimulate critical thinking around these themes. The course focuses on topics like musical intuition and aesthetic choices, artistic research, interpretation and the transferring or challenging of traditions, meeting the audience, music and ethics, and how we advocate for music.

Knowledge:

The candidate

  • has a reflective attitude towards the importance of music in past and present, and her/his role as a musician in her/his cultural context
  • has awareness and knowledge and can reflect critically about art and aesthetic questions.

Skills:

The candidate:

  • can reflect on and communicate her/his artistic choices
  • can integrate obtained knowledge and insight into their own musical performance.

Læringsformer og aktiviteter

Lectures, colloquium, reports, interpretation/musical activity and a written assignment.

All compulsory subject must be passed to be able to do the exams.

Instruction is obligatory and demands minimum 80% attendance.
