The course is given every year; shared between NTNU and University of Oslo (UiO) every second year. Next time at NTNU will be autumn 2016. The NorRen Interdisciplinary Renewable Energy summer school is run as an intensive, week-long course each year in August, targeted at PhD students in all disciplines of (renewable) energy research.

Læringsmål

After the course, students should be able to: • Make an account of the current technological status and challenges for the major RE technologies (Solar, Wind, Bio and Hydropower) • Identify market drivers and obstacles for RE deployment • Demonstrate knowledge of socio-economic factors affecting RE policies • Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of employing an interdisciplinary approach in addressing complex aspects of RE energy deployment • Present results of group project work

Læringsformer og aktiviteter

The course includes 20 h of obligatory class lectures and 20 h of obligatory group work with subsequent summary and presentation. In addition, to obtain 3ECTS, a 5 page essay on a topic related to the theme of the summer school, chosen together with the course responsible will be required.
