Product- and system design

Knowledge: After passed the exam the student should know the main steps and contents in a systems design process: * systems engineering as a process, strategy and methods * functional marine requirements - technical specifications * navigate and apply rules and regulations * synthesis and analysis of systems * technical documentation Competence: After passing the exam the student should be able to: * initiate, plan, execute and document a system design project using the above knowledge. * apply advanced comoputer tools for design and analysis of multidisipline systems * performe dynamic simulations combining hydraulics and mechanical systems * produce required technical documentation General competence: After passing the exam the student should be able to: * perform multi-discipline projects * apply critical sense in evaluating design analysis results

Lectures, exercises and mandatory project work (individual). Assignments are mandatory and minimum 2/3 of the exercises have to be approved before access to examination. An oral presentation of the project work must be given at the end of the semester.
