Masteroppgave i Simulering og Visualisering

The Master's thesis reports on an individual research project under supervision. The candidate writes a project proposal with a focus on modelling, simulation, visualization, computer graphics, software architecture for simulator systems, and/or artificial intelligence. The work should have a scientific basis and make use of scientific methods. By means of the thesis, the candidate has to show his/her understanding and ability to apply the selected methods in order to analyze and solve research questions. The work has to be conducted in accordance with ethical standards.

Knowledge:- In-depth knowledge of modelling, simulation and visualization for application to concrete problems.- Selecting correct methods to solve a given problem.Skills: - Perform modeling, simulation and visualization at an advanced level in the selected topic.- Good knowledge in performing a large independent project including development of project plan with milestones and reporting progress and status.General competence: - Communicate specialist topics with specialists and general public. - Understanding scientific methods. - Understanding running practical projects.

Guidelines for working with the thesis: The Master's thesis has to be written by the student alone. The project proposal must be agreed upon with the appointed main supervisor in the fall semester of the second year of the Master's studies. A written agreement on the progress and supervision during the project has to be agreed upon and signed by student and supervisor. This happens after the project proposal has been approved. The thesis should contain an A4-sized summary, written in the same language as the thesis. If the chosen language is Norwegian, there also has to be an A4-sized summary in English. The summary should directly follow the preface and give a brief overview of the topic, theory, methodology, and main results.
