Urban Applications of GIS

Representing, analysis and present characteristics of the urban landscape using 3D modeling. Raster based GIS operations such as map algebra, visibility analysis, and sun radiation analysis. During the semester students will carry out several exercises as well as an individual project and the result from this project will influence the final grade for this course.

The course aims to provide students with advanced skills in the use of geographical information systems (GIS) for urban planning purposes in general and for visibility analysis in particular.

8 hours lectures, 22 hours practical exercise work which should result in a report which will be assessed. It is expected that examinations must be completed in English. Exceptions must be clarified with the lecturer responsible for the course.
